Nathan knows how to give kisses
That's right Nathan knows how to give kisses, BUT only when he is in a good mood.~lol We were at my moms house, and after my mom was done feeding him, I changed his diaper. Then I sat him on my chest, and said "Nathan give mommy kisses" and I would make the kissing noise. He got really excited, then he grabbed my cheeks with both lil hands, open his mouth wide and leaned in for a kiss. It was the cutest thing. Mom and I were cracking up. He did this at least 5 times. Of course it was all slobbery. Now we have to teach him to give kisses with his mouth shut.~Lol

Nathan & Carrots
So I decided instead of trying applesauce this weekend, that I would rotate fruits and veggie's every week. So today Nathan had carrots for the first time. It was So funny. He had the funniest look on his face. I don't think he cares for them too much, but he will still eat them. And I read that it takes a good 10-15 feeding of something for babies to get used to a new food. I also feed him his oatmeal cereal and pears. Which he LOVES. Next week we will try the applesauce.

Nathan & Pears
Nathan is still not eating well. We don't know what is going on. SO Kevin and I decided yesterday, that in spite of what the doctors say, we are starting him on foods. I mean, I would rather put fruits and veggies in his belly, so at least he is getting something. We of course are still giving him the formula, but he only eats about 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 ounces at each feeding. So after he had his formula at 5:30pm I broke open the pears and started feeding him. OMG, he LOVED it. He thought it was so good. He ate half the container. Then at his 9:15pm feeding he ate the rest of the container after his formula. He has his weight check tomorrow, and I will let the doctor know that I gave him some, even though I know they won't be happy about it. Oh well, my boy needs to eat. Next week, we are going to try applesauce.

What a Week!
(Day 1)We got to the hospital around 6:30pm. The first thing they did was get an x-ray of the chest. After the x-ray we chilled in the ER room, and watched cartoons with Nathan. The doctor came in asked some questions, looked Nathan over then left. A little bit later she returned, and said she looked at the x-ray and asked if we knew Nathan had phenomia. WHAT?!?!?!? We had NO clue. He has never had a fever. She asked if he has been coughing. To which I said yes, but thought it was from his GERD. I can't believe our lil man has phenomia. After talking with the doctor, the techs came in to take blood from him and put in an IV. The first time they attempted it, it blew, so they tried the other leg. It worked, but Nathan of course screamed the entire time. I felt HORRIBLE. I kept saying "hurry up" after they got all the blood they needed they taped up the IV, and started the antibiotics. We were in the room what seemed like forever waiting on a room. We finally got up to his room about 10:15pm. I called my mom to come up and bring a few things along with food, cause we were starving. That night Nathan's oxygen level dropped some, so they gave him oxygen through the nose. Man did he hate that. It took him a good 20 mins to get comfortable to fell back asleep.
(Day 2)The doctors came in to talk about what they would like to see. And we seen the dietician. They wanted him to in take 28 ounces a day. So they kept track of every feeding and diaper change. It was an okay day. Nathan did fairly well. He seemed to be in high spirits. He had plenty of vistors throughout the day. They also did an EKG to make sure his heart was okay. We were advised it looked good.
(Day 3)Went same as day 2. He did gain a little bit of weight. He really just wanted to be held the whole time. But he played, went for walks around the floor, and even went to music time. I talked to the Dietitian again about feedings and solid foods. She said they want to wait on the food for another month or so. But to try oatmeal cereal, instead of rice. That night they again put him on some oxygen, but in the middle of the night, I heard him fussing, went to check on him and noticed the oxygen cord was wrapped around his neck about 4 times. I FLIPPED!!!! I wasn't mad at anyone, since it was cause he was flipping around, but I was still mad. I told the nurse that if she gives him that oxygen again, that he is sleeping on me. I don't care about the rules. Well he didn't need anymore of it, which was good.
(Day 4)WE ARE GOING HOME!!!! The doctors came in and said they were sending us home. He said everything is looking good, and since he is showing a weight gain they feel comfortable sending him home. They told us to have some lunch and they would get the paperwork together. Well we waited FOREVER!!!! In the mean time we started packing the car up. Finally around 2pm the doctor came in and said they wanted him to have another EKG, because there was a blip on the first one, and they think the leads weren't on correct. But after the EKG we could leave. SO while we waited, I was mad. We were told all was well with the first one, and now its not. Nathan did not get his EKG until about 4pm. We waited for a bit, and then to doctor came in on the phone, and said the same blip was there and Nathan's PCP wanted to talk with me. I was talking with Dr. Pavlik and she advised me that because there was a blip, she wanted him to have a Echo gram. (ultrasound of the heart) And that we have to stay another night. My heart sank. I DID NOT want to stay another night. After I got off the phone with her, I talked to the doctor and asked if there was ANYWAY we could get in today. I mean we were already here, and we were told the first one was fine. If it wasn't why couldn't this be done yesterday. She made a phone call and a few minutes later she said they got us in. We headed downstairs and had the Echo. Nathan did GREAT!!!! He laid still, watched TV and help hold the ultrasound tool~Lol After he was done the doctor came in to review it. He said Nathan's heart is great!!!! (WOW, what a relief) By the time we headed upstairs, they had the results, and were preparing the release paperwork. We finally got home about 6pm. As we pulled up so did my mom. She came by to watch Nathan, while Kevin and I got some rest. The night went well, except I couldn't sleep.
Friday morning, I took Nathan to moms while I went to work. I did not want to be away from him, but needed to get back. I called throughout the day, and she said he seemed to not be feeling well. She did give him oatmeal cereal, and he LOVED it, even more than the rice. After I got off, I picked him up, ran to Meijers to pickup dinner, and went home. He didnt eat much, and just wanted to sleep. We did dress him up for about 5 minutes to take some Halloween Pictures. He really didn't want his bottle, but polished off 2 bowls of cereal. I guess thats better than nothing.
Saturday, he seemed better. He was in a good mood, but still didn't really eat, and just wanted to sleep. He did throw up in the morning, after about an hour and a half after eating and playing. I thought that was weird. Sunday was about the same, but he cried a lot of the day. He also threw up in the morning. We also noticed another tooth is set to come through. We can see the white spot (on the right of his other 2 teeth), but its not through the gums yet. I think that's another reason he is not feeling well.
I just don't know what is going on. Im sure he is trying to recover from the phemuina. And I am sure the medicine is taking a lot out of him. But why is he not eating well when he did great at the hospital?? I guess only time will tell. He sees the doctor on Monday. I hope they have some good news for us.
On the lighter side. Nathan is getting his knees under his butt, and pushing himself forward. Sometimes he goes forward and sometimes he ends up flipping on his back. Its too cute. Now he needs to get his hand up, and he will be crawling in no time. Then we are in trouble.~lol I think I am going to start baby proofing the house, so I don't have to worry about it later.
