Ultrasound Day!

Today was US day. My mom went with us, as a part of her Christmas gift. She was SO excited to see her grandbaby on the monitor. I even seen some tears coming from her eyes.

Before the tech started I asked if she could double check and make sure pumpkin is still a girl~Lol I have been having dreams that I'm in the delivery room, and they say It's a boy!!! She checked for me and sure enough...pumpkin is still a girl. The tech said she is looking good, and that I am on track. We even got an adorable picture of her sucking her thumb.

I can't wait to meet her!!!!!

Merry Christmas to All!!!!

What a great Christmas day. Nathan woke up and ran right into the living room. Kevin was sleeping out there, so he was up when Nathan ran out there. I guess Nathan's faced dropped at all the gifts, and then right away says...Santa cookies all gone. Kevin explained to him that Santa ate the cookies and drank the milk after delivering the gifts. Nathan than ran into the bedroom to get me up. He was ready to open gifts.

Every year Kevin's dad comes by and cooks us breakfast. So while we were waiting for him we opened the stockings. That was fun, and Nathan loved everything he got. He was excited to see Papa, but was more interested in opening gifts. He did not want to wait till after Breakfast. Once we ate, Papa left, and then it was time to open gifts. Nathan got So much stuff. I have no clue where to put it all.

Nathan was so busy playing and having a good time, and of course he missed his nap. Later on my parents, grandma, Bryan and Lindsay came by. That was a lot of fun. Nathan was excited to open even more gifts, but you could tell that he was tired, as he slowed down opening things~Lol

It was such a great holiday. Makes me even more excited for next year with 2 kids.

Happy Christmas Eve

Today is Christmas Eve, and we spent the evening with Kevin's side of the family. It was a real nice night, and Nathan had a blast. This year he understands more about Christmas and Santa Claus. He had so much fun opening gifts, and opening others gifts. He was all smiles. We were also able to get a family shot of all of us, which turned out amazing.

After the get together, we headed home. Nathan put out Santa's cookies and milk, and then headed off to bed. I can't wait to see his face Christmas morning.

Appoinment

Had another appt today. Things are looking good. My BP was 118/80 and my weight has pretty much stayed the same. I did forget to get my urine sample~Lol. I went into the bathroom to get it, and that fast it slipped my mind. Dr. Al-jerdi thought that was pretty funny.

Pumpkin sounds good. Her HB was 156bpm. Because of the GD and my BP being up a little, Dr wanted me to have another ultrasound to make sure she is not growing too big. I was super excited to see pumpkin again. Can't wait. Our US is scheduled for 12/29 at 11:15am

First Speech Therapy Session

Kevin said Nathan had a really good first therapy lession. He behaved and did what she asked him to do. HE said she taught him to say more, and even to use sign lanuage for more. He does have a class tomorrow at the center for an hour. Grandma W. is going to take him for us, since we have to work. I am going to try to meet her up there on my lunch hour. I have to see how far away it is from my work first. All in all I think this will really help him and his speech take off.

Because he is learning new words so fast, I am no longer going to update his vocab list. It would just be too much and I won't be able to remember it all. He is however learning to spell his name. We are so proud of our little man.

Anoter Appointment

Time already for another appointment. Every two weeks seems to go by very fast. Today my mom went with me. She didn't want to ask, but jokingly said "so if I go, I get to hear the heartbeat right?" I told her of course. She seemed really shocked I said yes.

My BP was 124/86 and my weight was up about 3 pounds. Which is a little odd, but I did have heavier clothes on, and I was weighed in the evening. (I normally weigh myself in the morning) Then we got to hear pumpkins heartbeat. Nice and strong at 150bpm. My mom was really excited to hear it.

Next appt is 12/22/10 at 4:15pm, last one until the new year. I can't believe how time is flying. She is going to be here before we know it.

Bi-weekly Appointment

I have been swtiched to every 2 weeks now due to my BP being a little on the high side. I have been testing it once a day now as well. It has actually been pretty good. I am still down 10 pounds, and my BP was 134/84. Pumpkin sounds good, her heart beat was 154bpm.

My next appt is 12/08/10 at 4:15pm

Nathan knows his colors

It is so cute, Nathan knows his colors. He can say green and yellow as well. We were at the dentist office waiting for Kevin to get finished up, and Nathan and I were coloring pictures to pass the time. Every Time I asked for a color Nathan would grab the correct one and hand it to me. I am so proud of our little smart man.

He knows the basic colors: Yellow, green, blue, red, purple, brown, black, white, orange.

Nathan has an appointment tomorrow for his hearing evaluation, and next Friday (11/19) he has his speech therapy evaluation.

Monthly Appointment

I seen Dr. Al-Jerdi again today for my monthly appt. It went ok. I am still down 10 pounds, and pumpkin sounds good. Her HB was 150bpm.

Doctor is not happy my blood pressure is a little high (130/90) so he wants to closely monitor it. I will now be going to see him every 2 weeks, and I have to test my BP once a day, and keep a record. I will be starting my NST (non stress test) at 34 wks (first week in Jan) I asked him if I was still going to be able to work. (I wasn't able to with Nathan when I started the NST) He said only time will tell, but he doesn't think so. I guess we will wait and see.

The other thing I was bummed to find out was I am not allowed to pickup or carry Nathan anymore, because he is just too heavy. I will still need to, to get him in and out of the car, but that's pretty much it.

My next appt is 11/22 at 4:15pm

Nathan's first night in his big boy bed

Tonight was Nathan's first night in his big boy bed. He did so well. We laid him down at 9:30pm. He got up once, but after we told him he has to get back in bed, he did and stayed in bed. He didn't fall asleep until about 11:15pm though~Lol We are so proud of our lil man.

**Its been 5 nights now, and Nathan is doing amazing. He did get up 1 night at 2am, and crawled into bed with me. I walked with him back to his bed, and told him it was still night night, and he had to sleep in his cool car. He fell right back asleep. He has been getting up earlier than usual, so we just have to work with him some. 7am is too early for him, as he gets cranky real quick. We also do not have the gate at his door, so when he does get up, he will either wake me or Kevin up. Once Kevin and I move upstairs (after baby is born) we will have a gate so he can't escape his room. We won't be able to hear him when we are upstairs and dont want him getting into things and hurt himself.

Let the painting begin!!!

Kevin is on vacation this week, so it was decided we would start working on Nathan's new room. At first we were going to just go with a basic blue color. Then just joking around I said..."Let's go with the Disney Car's theme"

Well it stuck, and we rolled with it. Nathan was all excited. He kept saying "cool car" every time we asked him what his room is going to look like. Kevin's parents decided to buy his bed as his Christmas gift, which was so super nice of them. And my parents bought him the bedding for the bed (Christmas gift) Nathan was so thrilled when it was all done. As of 10/30/10 he sleeps in a big boy bed, and he is doing fabulous. I am so proud of our big boy.

It's a GIRL!!!!!!!

Today is the day we find out. I couldn't wait for it to get here. The ultrasound tech started taking pumpkins measurements on everything she needed too, then we heard her say "Come on baby" I was thinking to myself, oh no, pumpkin is not cooperating and we will not find out. Then a minute later she said would you like to know what it is??? I asked her how sure was she?. She advised she is 99% sure, and has not been wrong in 25 yrs. Then I said okay. She said...."It's a Girl!!!!!" Kevin and I started tearing up immediately. I told Kevin I am sure she is already wrapped around his finger. He of course said yes.

It was cute though, the tech would leave to check other areas, and then come back to make sure she is still a girl. I loved it.

Kevin and I had some running around to do before our parents came over for dinner. We stopped at the bulk food store to see what we could buy that would be a neat way to tell the family. We found these cute chocolates shaped like cigars that were pink and said its a girl. So we picked them up. When we got home I put a stick on the end of it, and wrapped them in regular Reynold's wrap. When everyone got there we handed them each one. As soon as Nathan said "GO" They pulled the chocolate out. They were all so excited, and of course said they knew. I informed them, they didn't know it...they assumed~Lol We called a bunch of people too. It was a great great day. Nathan is so happy he is going to have a sissy.

Apple Charles

Since Kevin was off, we decided to head to Apple Charles. It is a nice little cider mill/apple orchard. The first thing we seen when we arrived were the chickens. Then we seen deer, a Lama, Ostrich, a cow, piggies, rabbits and horses. We decided to see if Nathan would like to go on a horsey ride. He loved it, even though he was only on it for all of 3 minutes. They do not let the kids ride for any length of time.

After the horsey ride, we went on the carousel. He liked it okay, and didn't seem scared, but the whole time he kept asking for daddy.

After the rides, we went to the little pond, where Nathan seen the ducks and geese. After we pointed to the geese and said their name. He kept saying "Geese" It was really adorable. He loved the geese, and ducks. After having lunch, and getting our doughnuts and cider. We headed home. Nathan must have had a great time, because he was wore out and passed out on the way home.

I can't wait to take him to another Cider mill.

Very Active

Pumpkin was very active today. Nathan and I were in Home Depot, and as I was trying to find room darkening shades, and trying to keep Nathan from acting out, pumpkin was so active. Just kicking up a storm. I guess she/he wanted apart of the action too.

Another appointment and ultrasound

Today was another busy day for the Wood family. While Nathan was at his grandma & PaPa's house, Kevin and I had a few errands to run.

First stop, we got our new car. I just love it. It is a 2010 Ford Escape XLT, and its loaded pretty well. It drives so smoothly. I am glad we decided to buy this one.

Second stop Doctors office. First my appointment was with Dr. Al-Jerdi. He is very pleased with our progress. My BP was 132/86 and so far I have lost a total of 10 pounds. Pumpkins Heartbeat was nice and strong at 156. He told me to keep up the good work, and he will see me again in a month. After he left, I had a flu shot, and some blood taken.

Final stop UltraSound (In the same office) We were so excited to see pumpkin, and even more excited to find out if we are having a boy or a girl. Well Pumpkin had other plans. The tech said pumpkin is in the WORST stop he/she could be in. Right behind my belly button. The only thing we were able to see was the top of the head, heartbeat, and a foot. Needless to say the gender is still a mystery. We were both really bummed, and have to come back in 3 weeks (Oct 13th) She said by then we can for sure tell, and can possibly get some good 3D shots. We can't wait.

Nathan's Swim Class

Nathan started up his swim class again. Luckily someone canceled and we were next on the waiting list. He was so excited all week to go swimming, and boy did his face light up and we pulled up. He had blast, even though the water was freezing. I on the other hand had a hard time. He is just so heavy, and having to hold him for 30 min and tossing him around was a little to much on me, and I think pumpkin. I was crampy a little afterwards.

Since it just started and we have 9 more weeks, I am going to let others take him in the water, and I will either watch from the sidelines, or go in the water, but let others hold him. Next week Nathans grandma (w) is going to take him. I think she is excited about it as much as he is.

Movement

Today was the first time I felt little pumpkin's movements. They were 2 little flutters, but I know for a fact they were pumpkin. What an amazing feeling.

Happy Birthday Daddy...2 appointments

Happy 32nd Birthday Daddy!!! We all love you!!!

Besides being Kevin's birthday, Nathan and I had doctor appointments as well. My appointment was first. Dr. Al-Jerdi is pleased with the progress I am making. My sugar numbers have been very good. My BP was 128/82 and I had lost 6 pounds. Pumpkin is doing fabulous too. Heartbeat was 153. The Dr. did give me my numbers from my glucose tests. (First 1hr was 138. 3 hr: Fasting: 80 1hr: 197 (high) 2hr: 148 3hr: 69 all normal) Only 1 was high, so they didn't want to take any chances. That is why I am on the GD diet. Dr. Al-Jerdi said to keep up the good work. My next appointment is September 22nd, where we get to see pumpkin again and find out the gender. Super exciting.

Then it was off to Nathan's appt with Dr. El-baba. It was so busy there, and they were so behind. We waited over an hour to be seen. Nathan's Head circumference was 50.3, BP: 95/66. He weighed in at 27.6 pounds and is 34.5 inches long. The minute Dr. E walked in he was blown away by how Nathan looked. He looked at his chart and them looked at him again, and said "Why are you here, he is perfect, go home" ~lol He gave Nathan a quick checkup, and said we no longer need to see him, but come back in a year just to see him :) I am so happy this part of our life is done. Of course we will miss Dr. E and Sara. But I do see visits in our future.

Nathan and I both had excellent appointments. Afterward, we relaxed at home for a bit, then took Kevin out to dinner. It was a really great day.

First Set of Numbers

Hospital called this morning to get my numbers from the 19th till today. I’m sure they are pleased with them, since they have not gone above what is allowed. I have been sticking to this diet to a T. It’s hard, but it’s worth it. And I have even lost 6 pounds since the 19th. Below are my readings so far:

Dietitian appt. today

Seen the Dietitian today. She made me poke myself. My number was 85. I really don’t want to do this everyday 4 times a day. I just keep telling myself its all for pumpkin. I have to keep my numbers below 100 mg/dl for the fasting testing, and below 120 mg/dl after meals. Below is my strict diet:

For breakfast: 30 grams of carbs, 1oz of meat/protein, 1 fat group (like 20 peanuts or 6 cashews.)
For am snack: 30 grams of carbs, & 1oz of meat/protein.
For lunch: 45 grams of carbs, 3oz meat/protein & 2 fat group & free veggies.
For pm snack: 30 grams of carbs, & 1oz meat/protein.
For Dinner: 45 grams of carbs, free veggies, 5ozs of meat/protein, & 2 fat group.
For the nighttime snack: 30 grams of carbs, & 2 ozs of meat/protein

Up North Trip 08/13-08/18

Even though it was a short trip, we had a really good time up north. Nathan loved being up there. We didn't do a lot of stuff, but mostly hung around the house, played games, went to the lake and relaxed. It was a nice time.

Nathan learned how to climb out of the pack n play, so it made naps and bedtime a little trying at times. But for the most part he stayed in the bed like he was supposed too.

Nathan's favorite thing to do was to jump off the dock. Kevin took just him one morning so I could sleep in, and as Kevin was taking this adorable picture....

Nathan decided out of no where to jump in the water. (It wasn't deep) I think Kevin might have had a mild heart attack. He loves jumping off of stuff. You really have to watch him. So they both came home soaked in their jammies. I did find it quite funny.

We were really sad the vacation was over so fast. Nathan and Kevin slept most of the way home. We of course stopped again in Frankenmuth. Nathan loved playing in the fountain there.

Can't wait to get back up north. Hopefully next year we can stay longer.

NT scan take 2....Heading up North

Headed back up to the hospital for my NT scan. Since Kevin had to work before we headed up north later today, my mom went with me, so she could watch Nathan. She was excited to be able to see the ultrasound. Once we got into the room, and pumpkin came on the screen, I just fell more in love with her/him.

Nathan started to be really bad with his yelling and screaming, so they had to leave the room. I asked the tech if she could tell the sex yet, and she said no, it was too soon. She said I was measuring about 12 wks and 3 days. On the paperwork it said my EDD is 02/25/11. I guess we will see if my Dr. will change the date when I see him on the 26th. After collecting pictures of pumpkin, I headed out to get my finger poked for the test. Once that was over with we headed home to start packing for up north.

Got the car all packed up, and we headed out the door around 4:30pm. We made a few stops along the way, one being the Cheese Haus in Frankenmuth.

It was nice to get out and stretch our legs. Nathan loved putting his feet in the water fountain, and throwing coins in it. Nathan slept a lot during our ride up there.

We made it about 8:30pm. After unloading the car and getting Nathan’s bed up, we had a bite to eat. Nathan went to bed around 10pm, and I headed to bed around 10:30pm. Bryan came up for the weekend, and made it up after I went to sleep.

Made appt with the Dietitian

I spoke to the nurse from the doctor’s office. She gave me a phone number I have to call daily with my sugar readings. I can’t believe how closely they are monitoring us. That is very impressive. I talked to the lady at the hospital who handles the medical equipment. She received my RX and advised me my co-pay for 3 months is $102.00. I can’t believe how much I have to pay out of pocket. I also made my appointment with the Dietitian. I tried to get it for the 13th since I would be at the hospital anyway, and was hoping to have it taken care of before we leave on vacation. But the only time I could get was the 19th at noon. Which means we have to come home a day early from up north. Super bummed about that, but at least I don’t have to test up north. I will start the day of my appointment.

Not good news...I have Gestational Diabetes

Well the call I have been dreading. The results of my 3-hour glucose test are back and well I have Gestational Diabetes. I am just crushed. I have to make an appt with the Dietitian and will be on a strict diet. They will be closely monitoring us, and I have to check my blood sugar 4 times a day. AHHHHH...I am not looking forward to poking myself 4 times a day.

Even though I know this is what is best for me and pumpkin, and I am grateful they caught it early. I don’t want to know what would have happened if it went undetected. I am super bummed that I have to go through this. But I am looking at the bright side. Baby and I will be healthy. That is the most important thing. I’m also looking at this as a great weight loss program ~lol (A friend of mine her neighbor had the same thing when she was pregnant and she lost 48 pounds in her pregnancy. Not that I am hoping to lose weight or anything. If it happens it will be a bonus. Don’t want to harm baby in anyway)

3 hour Glucose Test

I had my 3-hour glucose test today. It was not as bad as I was making it out to be. I stressed a lot before this appointment. I did make sure I woke up at 11:30pm the night before to eat, so I wouldn’t be as hungry. The blood draw tech was really nice. I told her I wouldn’t be able to keep the stuff down if I had to chug it. She said she didn’t want me to chug it, to take my time. We chatted as I drank which helped keep my mind off of it. After I got it down I headed to the waiting room. My mom went with me to keep me company. Since they don’t have the cable TV anymore, it was nice to have my mom to chat with for 3 hours. Kevin stayed home with Nathan. Once the 3 hours were up and they had poked me 4 times, mom and I headed to lunch. I was starving!!!! We went to Ponderosa (Like we did with Nathan after my 3hr) Even though I was starving, I didn’t eat much. It just didn’t taste good to me. I hope I don’t hear from them. You know the saying…no news is good news.

NT Scan....First look at Pumpkin

I never thought this day would get here. I didn’t have a chance to stop and worry over the weekend that something was wrong with pumpkin because Nathan was really sick. He is doing much better though. He is back to his old self.

I didn’t sleep well last night because I was anxiously awaiting our appt. We got to the hospital around 8:15 but our appt wasn’t till 8:30. I didn’t think it would ever get here. They finally called us back, and before she started with the ultrasound, I told her I was nervous because last week they couldn’t find the heartbeat. The tech was nice enough to check the heart first. There it was on the screen just beating away. She said it was nice and strong. I was so relieved and just in tears. There was our little pumpkin just chillin there doing his or her thing.

It was so amazing. The tech said the baby was only measuring 10.5 wks (I'm supposed to be at 12 wks) She said that is probably why they couldn’t find the heartbeat on the Doppler. Since they can only perform the NT scan between 11wks and 13wks. I have to come back to have it done. The appt for that is Aug. 13th at 10am. (Fine by me, I get another picture of Pumpkin) Before heading back to work, I dropped Kevin off at home, and showed Nathan the picture of his little brother or sister. He gave the picture a kiss and a hug. Then as he was holding he just kept staring at it and laughing. Not sure what that was all about, but I found it quite funny.

During the day I kept thinking about why pumpkin was measuring almost 2 weeks behind. Was he/she just little, or did I conceive later than we thought? I am starting to think I am not as far as long as they thought I was. I think I found out I was pregnant as soon as it happened. That is probably why I had to come back for a repeat HCG level check since my first blood work came back low. It will be interesting to see what Dr. Al-Jerdi thinks when I see him on the 26th.

I did get a call from Dr. Al-Jerdi’s office this evening and I am not happy, but I am not surprised. I failed the 1hr glucose test and they want me to take the 3 hr one, since she said my sugar was too high. I can't believe it. I really don't want to go through that again. My appt for that is Thursday 08/05. I have to been there by 8:30am. Which means I had to take a day off work (un-paid) I also have to fast after midnight. Which is not a big deal since I will be sleeping. And for 3 days before I have to keep my normal diet, but add one of 3 items: 1) 2 pieces of bread 2) a piece of cake or 3) a candy bar. I am going to be so hungry by the time its over. And it’s going to be horrible having to drink double that stuff on an empty stomach. Doesn’t help I’m nauseous as it is.

1 hour Glucose Test

Today I had to take the 1-hour glucose test and it’s my second monthly appointment. I had it today with the Midwife Renee Worrell. Dr. Al-Jerdi was not in that early, and even though Renee cannot deliver babies yet, I really wanted to meet her. Kevin and I got there, and after I signed in they brought me my lovely (nasty) orange glucose drink. (I requested orange because I can get that down better than that lemon-lime crap) After gagging it down, I wait!!!!! Before the hour was up they called me into the room. Did my weight (only gained 1 pound) and my BP (178/80) while I waited for Renee to come in they took me to the back and drew my blood. Afterwards I waited in the room, and in came Renee. She is super nice, and I really liked her. She answered my questions, and gave me samples for some smaller prenatal vitamins. I hope these will help until my gag fits subside and I can take the normal ones again. She also stated my EDD is actually 02/13/11.

Then it was time to hear the heartbeat. This was the moment we have been waiting for. Well after trying for about 5 minutes, she could not find the heartbeat. I was in tears freaking out. What was going on??? She said she wasn’t concerned but she would see if the ultrasound tech was in to check and but my mind at ease. After a few minutes she came in and said he had left but that she would try again. After trying for another 5 minutes, she still could not find anything. She said she talked with Dr. Al-Jerdi and that they are not concerned. She said that it may still be too soon, and if my uterus is tilted (which I think it is) that would cause an issue too. She said if they were concerned they would send me to the hospital. She said I could come back in a week and they can check again. I advised her I have the NT scan Monday, so I can see then. I can’t believe I have to go through 4 full days of not knowing if the baby is okay or not. This is torture. My next appt is August 26that 9am, and Nathan has an 11am appt with Dr. El-baba as well. Glad I could make them on the same day.

I'm showing already

Are you kidding me??? I am already showing. What is up with that? I had lost the 6 pounds that I gained in the first 2 weeks (not that I was trying too). But you can totally tell I am pregnant. I am only 9 weeks along. They do say you show sooner after your first child, but this is crazy. I am going to be a blimp by the time pumpkin is born~Lol

My first Prenatal Appointment

Had my first official appt. today. They did the usual exam, plus blood work. My blood pressure was good, but my weight…. Holy moly I gained 6 pounds in 2 weeks. I was shocked. I had only gained 3 total with Nathan. Dr. Al-jerdi didn’t say anything about my weight. He gave me a RX for an ultrasound for my nuchal translucency scan (NT scan) It can help predict the chances of Down syndrome or other genetic disorders in the baby. I told the Dr no matter what we are keeping our pumpkin. For me it’s a chance to see our little pumpkin. It is scheduled for Aug 2nd at 8:30am. I cannot wait. Dr. Al-Jerdi also asked me if I wanted to do my 1-hour glucose test today. I was a little shocked he asked since normally you have it around your 27 wk appt. He said that since Diabetes runs in the family he wants me tested early. I asked him of I could do it at the next appt. He said no problem. I also asked him since I am doing it now that means I don’t have to do it later? He looked at me, smiled and said “Um, no, you still have to do it later.” Hey I tried didn’t I? My next appt is July 28th.

It's Official

Called to get the results of my blood work. I was praying my HCG levels were higher than last week. The nurse said she would find out and placed me on hold. When the line was picked up it was Dr. Al-Jerdi and my heart just sank. It’s never good when the doctor gets on the phone. I thought for sure he was going to say I had lost the baby. To my excitement he said everything looks good, and my levels were up. He would see me at my first appointment: June 30th. I called Kevin and our parents right away. We are so thrilled

The Waiting Game

Went this morning to get my blood drawn again. I can’t wait to get the results tomorrow.

Happy Fathers Day....The Secret is Out!!!!

First of all, I want to wish Kevin, and our dad's a VERY HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!!! You are awesome daddy's. Love you all!!!!

IT'S FATHERS DAY!!!!! So before I signed all the cards, I took another test~lol. Yup…still pregnant!!!! Today we are telling the family. I can’t wait. I am not good at keeping secrets. Well the family showed up, so Kevin, Nathan and I went into the bedroom to get the cards (and put Nathan’s Big brother shirt on) Nathan walked out of the bedroom, and gave his grandpa, and papa their cards. No one noticed the shirt. Well I shouldn’t say that…my mom read it twice, but really didn’t get it. Finally I said Nathan show everyone your shirt. Then the screams started. They are so happy for us. I called and told my brother Matt, and he was thrilled as well. I also sent a picture of Nathan in his shirt to Lindsay. She got it right away. This was an amazing Father’s day.

Mixed Emotions

I called to get my test results, and they confirmed that I am 100% pregnant. She did say my HCG levels were low (not sure what it was) and that I would need to have the test repeated. I asked her if that meant that I might not be pregnant. She said no, I am pregnant but the levels were low. They need to double everyday. I called my friend Elke, and Marianne to give me some peace of mind, and they said it is normal. Happened to them as well. They advised it’s because I am still early on. (With Nathan my levels were 10,177 and I was 8 weeks along)

Our first appointment

Today I had my appointment with Dr. Al-Jerdi to get my blood work done to confirm the pregnancy. I should have the results tomorrow. My EDD is Feb 16th 2011. (About 6 wks along) Later in the evening Nathan was on my lap playing with his stackable cups. While he was playing with them I asked if he was playing with the baby. He shook his head yes, and proceded to take each cup and touch my belly with it. Looked like he was handing the baby a cup, and taking it back. It was so adorable, and it lasted a good 45 minutes. I was just in heaven. I think he is going to be an excellent big brother.

We're Pregnant....AGAIN!!!!

When we decided to try for #2, we already decided to give this baby the nickname pumpkin. We think it's really adorable

06/14/10 - Today I found out that I am pregnant with our second child. (Pumpkin) We have been trying since about November 2009. I have been so irregular that I didn’t think it was possible that I was pregnant. So I was talking it over with our good friend Elke, and she suggested that we go to the dollar store and pick up a test. I was hesitant at first, but went ahead and picked it up anyway. I hadn’t planned on testing until after work, but my buddy told me I should do it on my lunch break. So there I was in the little bathroom stall, trying to figure out how to use the dollar store test. It was digital, and you had to put the stick in somehow into the machine. It was weird. So after I took the test, I waited for the results. A few minutes later I picked up the test, for sure that I was going to see “Not Pregnant” on the screen. Well to my shock it said “PREGNANT” I couldn’t contain myself. I was SO excited. Of course I went and showed Elke, who was so thrilled. Then I couldn’t sit still. All I wanted to do was be home so I could tell Kevin. (Who didn’t get off work till 10pm) To pass the time, I texted a few of my mommy friends, and posted on our mommy boards. I was in heaven.

It seemed like forever until Kevin was getting home. I had dinner at my moms, and it was SO hard not to spill the beans. But I didn’t. Then I kept thinking…how do I tell Kevin. Then it hit me…take a video of Nathan in his Big Brother tee shirt.

It was perfect. Kevin got home and I said I needed to show him this cute video I took of Nathan. He starts watching, and says, "What does his shirt say" Then he just looked at me and said "OMG R U Pregnant?" I said yes. He just screamed and kept saying "Shut Up, are you serious, Shut up" LOL. It was great. I even showed him the Second test I tool last night (EPT~just to make sure~Lol)

He was in tears last night. He is on top of the world right now. As am I.

I found this crazy though. (I didn’t prompt him or anything) Nathan and I were on the couch before he went to bed, and I said Nathan where is the baby. He then points to my belly, kisses it and says "Good Girl, good good girl" (he doesn’t say boy yet) Wonder if that's a sign??? I was like OMG!!!! It threw me for a loop because I never pointed to my belly. I just told him mom and dad were going to have a baby and that he was going to be a big brother.

Mini Party

Nathan had a second "mini" party tonight for all his little friends. We ordered pizza for everyone, and I also had cake and ice cream for dessert. We started out playing outside, until it started to sprinkle. Everyone headed indoors to stay dry. My poor little house is too small for everyone, but we made due. I think everyone had a great time, and Nathan loved all of his gifts.

Happy Second Birthday Nathan

I know I say this every month it seems, but really...where does the time go? Nathan turned 2 years old today. How did that happen? Can someone please tell me? And what a big difference a year makes. Nathan is doing wonderful. Those days of being sick arewell behind him. He is thriving, and growing like a normal 2 year old. The only visible reminder of the hardship he went through, is the 2 scars on his belly. He is such a smart and sweet little boy. I can officially say our baby is gone. (Even though he will ALWAYS be my baby)

Kevin and I had our dentist's appointments in the morning, then we were going to take Nathan to the Detroit zoo. But seeing as it was extremely hot and muggy, we opted not to do that. After the appointments, we ran to Costco to put Nathan's cake order in. Then we met my mom for lunch at Jon's good time.

After lunch we headed to the pet store where we bought Nathan his first fish. (Abraham)

Then stopped at Bartz Bakery to pickup a small cake for today. Once we got home Nathan fed his new fish, and opened his gifts. We ordered pizza for dinner, ate, and then Kevin and I sang Happy Birthday to our amazing lil man. It was a great day!!!

Nathan's first time at the Petting Farm

Nathan went to the petting zoo for the first time today. Kevin and I had a wedding to attend, so Nathan spent the day/night with his grandma and Papa. They took him to the petting farm, and I guess he had a blast. They said he really liked the cow and the rabbits.

Nathan's first time swimming

This isn't the first time he is been in the pool, but this is the first time he learned how to kick his legs in the water, paddle (scoop the water), blow bubbles, and jump in the water. He is such a water bug!!

I signed Nathan up for a parent and child swim class. It's a 6 week class on Fridays from 6:30-7pm.

He loved his swim classes. I am so sad it's over already. He has learned to jump in the water, kick his legs, and paddle with his hands. He also used a noodle, and a kick board as well. He also learned how to blow bubbles. (In his own way~Lol) He had so much fun in his classes. I am really sad it's over. They do not offer a class in the summer, so I found a place I can take him for $6.00 I want to keep working with him, so when he is potty trained he can start in the level 1 class by himself. We have such a water bug on our hands. Below are a few pic's taken from his classes.

Nathan's first time using the potty

I put Nathan on the potty today and he went!!!! I knew he was ready because every time I changed his diaper he would laugh and pee. So I know he can control that. I hope this is the start of something.

Frankenmuth Mini Vacation

The 3 of us went on a mini vacation over the weekend. Which was a perfect ending to the tube removal. Sunday we left around 10am to start our trip.

We had to stop and get gas, then stop to get some snacks and juice for Nathan. We stopped at 12 Oaks mall to take Nathan to Build A Bear workshop. (We received a free $25 gift card from National City) First we stopped at the pet store to see all the puppies. Nathan loved it. He was laughing the entire time, because all the puppies were playing and being silly. Then we headed to BAB were Nathan picked out his bear (it was named Champ~which is fitting since Kevin calls Nathan his Champ) We asked Nathan what he wanted to name his bear he said Daa. So after Daa was stuffed, we got him a U of M shirt to wear. He looks so cute and only cost us $0.97 out of pocket. Not bad!! We left the mall about 12:15pm, and made it to Frankenmuth at 1:30pm. Nathan slept the entire way up there.

Our room wasn't ready so we ran to the Cheese Haus, then headed back to the hotel where Nathan played on the slide for a bit until it was time to check in. After check in we had some lunch, then headed to the pool. Nathan LOVED the water. And we had a ball. He always had the biggest smile on his face. After the pool we played on the slide some more, then played in the room until dinner time. We went Oma's restaurant, OMG they have THE BEST pizza. It was so good. Nathan had a few bites of pizza, but also had his hot dog, fries, and a pickle. After dinner we headed back to the room, and got Nathan ready for bed. It didn't take him too long to fall asleep, and he slept through the night but he did wake up at 6am. Kevin and I were still SO tired. Kevin decided to take Nathan downstairs for a bit so I could sleep a little longer. After they left, I had a hard time falling asleep. I ended up falling asleep and ended up sleeping until they returned at about 9:20am. Nathan was still full of energy, so I took next shift. Kevin laid down, and Nathan and I went out and about for a bit. We ran to the car and grabbed the stroller. Then decided to take him to breakfast. Just him and I.

This was the first time I have ever taken him to a restaurant alone. I'd have to say I did an awesome job. After we ate we went back to the room. Kevin was still sleeping, and Nathan started to get fussy. I put him in the stroller and took him for a walk. Within about 10 minutes, he was out. We went to the room, and he slept (so did Kevin) until about 1:30pm. Once they were up, we had a quick lunch then headed back to the pool. Nathan was having so much fun until he threw the little football to Kevin (we were right next to him), and fell over (into like a 7 shape: feet on ground, and face in water) we didn't panic, we waited a few seconds to see if he could recover himself. Well he couldn't and he started panicking underwater. I hurried and scooped him up. (He was under for all of 5 seconds if that but it seemed like forever) He freaked!! Poor thing was so scared. I thought he was scarred for life. I held onto him in the water for another half hour or so. I was hoping he would have felt better, and started playing again, but he didn't. We left the pool, got cleaned up and headed back down to play games. Before dinner we passed the pool, and he pointed to the water, so we took him to the pool to see if he would put his feet in. He seemed to be more confidant, and walked right in. So we decided to have dinner, then head back to the pool. He was still hesitant, but still had so much fun!! I think we were all in bed and sleeping by 10pm.~Lol

The next morning he got us up about 8:15am. So we had some breakfast, packed up the car, and played a few more games. His favorite games were the Bozo game, Basketball game, hula hoops, the slide and the Deal or No deal game. We let him pick all the cases, and he would always have the high ones. His highest was 100 tickets. After playing the games, we headed to the River place just to window shop. It was nice and quiet. (I did not buy anything~we stayed within budget~which we were thrilled) Nathan fell asleep on our way to Birch run were we decided to stop at Applebees for lunch.

Nathan slept until I woke him when the food came. We ate, changed his diaper then headed home. Nathan stayed up the whole way home. He just did his thing. Played some Peek a boo:

and sang to the radio. He ended up falling asleep the last 15 minutes in the car. So were back and are still sad the vacation is over already. Those 2 nights went by SO fast. Can't wait for another special rate, and can go again.

Nathan's first time having a shower

We went to Frankenmuth for a few nights, and asked to get the same room we had last time. It was a handicapped room, and we liked the fact that it has more space for him to run around, plus we have access to the HUGE patio space. Since they weren't busy, they gave us the same room. I didn't really think too much about it, but when we went to our room realized that the handicapped room meant NO tub. Oops. It was no biggie, he just had showers after each trip to the pool. He seemed to like the shower.

The Tube is OUT!!!!

That's right!!! The tube is OUT!!! We are so thrilled. Nathan had his appointment with Dr. El-baba today. He is happy with the progress he is making, and felt it was okay to remove the tube a month early as long as Sarah the dietitian was okay with it. Sarah came in and we went over what he typically eats in a day. We advised her that he eats ALL day long. Here is a break down of one day:

8am: Bowl of dry cereal

10am: 2-3 pancakes, and a glass of milk

11:30-12pm: Apple or Oranges

1-2pm: Bowl of Pasta, and a Boost Drink

4:30pm~Apple, Oranges or a cheese stick pack

6-6:30pm~Dinner (whatever we are having) Chicken, carrots/peas

Small snack before bed

2~9ozs sippy of water/juice during the day

This is just a break down of 1 day. Everyday is different. She said she would like us to lower the amount of juice he gets and up the amount of milk per day. And to limit the snacks. She wants him to feel more hungry at mealtime. We asked her about the tube, and if it could come out. She said it should be fine. She believes Nathan will continue to be tall and skinny like his dad, and will stay around the 10th percentile. She asked how we felt maybe keeping the tube in for a few more months. We told her that if it wasn't bothering him, I wouldn't mind, but the fact that it hurts him ALL day everyday is not good. We need it out. She felt comfortable enough for it to be removed. After seeing her, Dr. El-baba came in and removed it. Nathan screamed so loud, but bounced back quick. I could tell a difference in him right away. He seemed happier, and was standing up straighter. We are so glad it is out, and just pray that Nathan keeps going in a positive direction.

We decided to have a little pizza party to celebrate this occasion. I told everyone way in advance that when it came out, we were having a pizza party, but that it would be short notice since we didn't know until the appointment. Right after his appointment we called and texted everyone. They were thrilled. The pizza party was fun. Both grandmas, and grandpas came, along with Bryan, Lindsay, GGma, and Melissa. It was a nice little celebration.

Building his Vocabulary

Nathan is doing better at saying new words. I think now that the binker is out of his life, he is going to start talking much more. He said a new word for the first time yesterday. He said Diego. It was really adorable. I have complied a list of words he says. I am sure I am forgetting some, but so far I can only think of:

Nathan is Binker Free

Today is the first day Nathan is binker free. For the past few months we have only been giving it to him mostly at nap and bed time. And when he falls asleep and the binker falls out, that's it. He doesn't wake up for it anymore.

I decided today is the day...NO MORE BINKER!!!!

Well is has now been 4 days, and he has not had or needed his binker. The only time it has been rough, has been on a few car rides. He was tired, and fussy. I was thinking how nice it would be to give him a binker and make him happy. I held strong though. All the binkers are all put away. We are thrilled.

Nathan can put 2 words together

The doctor said at his well appointment that he is a little behind in his speech and if by mid summer he is not saying more words and putting 2-3 words together, then we would see about talking to a speech therapist.

Well today Nathan and I went to Costco with my mom, and as we were shopping Nathan was eating an apple I had brought. When he ate the last bite, I threw my hands in the air and said "All gone" All of a sudden he threw his hands up and said "All gone" It was the most adorable thing I have heard. Mom and I both paused and looked at each other in amazement. It threw me of guard, and I was not excepting it.

Of course trying to get him to say it again it work. He seems to play this game, after saying something new, if will NOT say it again for some time, knowing you want him to do it. He is so stubborn. I think by mid summer he will be just fine. He chats (blabble) all day long. I think he will take off soon.

Nathan knows his letters

Nathan had me in tears tonight. We were at Bed Bath & Beyond waiting for gift wrapping, and while we were waiting Nathan was on my lap and staring at all the words on the shopping cart. I proceeded to ask him where different letters were. He pointed to each letter I called out. My lil man knows his letters. I can't believe it. He is SO smart!!!!

Nathan's first time drinking from a straw

Nathan figured out how to drink from a straw today.

My mom and I were at grandma's house and we had pop from White Castles. Nathan kept trying to grab the straw to have a drink. Of course since it's pop my mom kept saying NO. Well I said let him try, it's not like he will get anything, he doesn't know how to drink from a straw. Well the little sucker proved me wrong. After a few attempts he got some pop in his mouth. We were shocked!!!! He started clapping, and was so proud of himself. It was adorable. Of course we didn't let him have the cup anymore. So when mom and I went to lunch, and Nathan's milk came to the table, I decided to keep the lid and straw on the cup. He did fabulous. I am super proud he figured it out. Now I am going to buy him this Diego straw sippy I seen at Babies R Us. It is really cute, and he LOVES Diego.

Dr. El-baba Visit

I took Nathan to see Dr. El-baba today for his tube change. Kevin and I tried changing it the other day, and it would not come out. I didn't want to hurt him, so we decided we were going to have him do it. Plus it's been bothering him a lot, so we wanted Dr. E to check it out. Everything went well. Of course he pulled it out no problem. Putting the new one in was a little harder since he was screaming and tightening his stomach. He said the site looks good. Nothing to worry about.

He did knock off a month though. YAY!!!! He originally said (on Dec 17th) the tube needed to stay in for 6 months of non use before we could remove it permanently. But he said give it 3 more months. We are extremely excited. Instead of it coming out June 17th, we will be removing it May 13th. (Fingers crossed, they don't put him back on tube feeds, I don't want to start all over again)

What a great Anniversary present. Per his approval, we will take the tube out the 13th at night. (That way he is not running around while it's healing) I decided I will take the 14th (Our Anniversary) off work, just in case I need to take him to the doctors. We are totally going to celebrate. Can't wait!!!!
