First Boo Boo

I did not weigh Nathan last night, but I am sure he is still about 13 lbs 7 1/2 ounces. This morning the lady from Children's called, I am assuming to set up a time for his surgery Monday. Well I accidentally hit the ignore button, and it went to voicemail. Well I called her back within 2 minutes, and it went to her voicemail. So I left a message, and even called a few more times, and never received a call back. URG!!!! That is not like them. So they better call tomorrow. We need to know the time, and when he has to stop eating.

Nathan got his first Boo Boo tonight, and while I know it was not my fault, I feel like it is. I felt SO horrible, and the poor lil man cried so loud and hard. He was fighting his bedtime, which is unlike him, and I decided to go in there, and rock him in the rocking chair. Well I picked him up, sat in the chair, and started rocking him. He was laying vertical with his head on my shoulder. He decided he wanted to be more horizontal so he started moving his head to the right, and WHACK hit his head on the corner of the stand. (I guess the rocking chair was too close) Poor baby, let out this painful cry. It took me a few minutes to calm him down. I got scared because I have never dealt with that before, so I called my mom and she said to just monitor it and keep him up for awhile. So I grabbed some ice, wrapped it in a wash cloth and applied it to his lil red bump. After awhile he got tired, so I put him down to bed. I text Kevin and let him know what happened, and after making sure he was okay Kevin said "this is the first of many more to come, he is after all a boy" I know, and that worries me.~lol I had a hard time sleeping because I was just scared. But all is well, and the redness is gone. I bump is there, but barely. Man, as I type this I still feel bad about it.

Note to self: Move the stand and the rocking chair further apart.

Nathan & a real banana

Okay, while he did not eat the whole thing, he did get a lot of it. He seemed unsure at first, but then figured it out. He really seemed to like it.

Making Progress

Our little man is making some progress. Not a lot, but some. We have been trying to show Nathan how to crawl. We will put him on his knees, and try to put his hands down, but he always tucks his hands under him, and makes himself straight as a board. Well yesterday after Kevin got off of work, he tried it, and Nathan actually did it. He sat there on his hands and knees. We were SO excited, that he can finally hold himself up. Well he DID NOT like that one bit, he just started crying, as to say " What are you doing to me, I can't move" I tried to get the camera, but by the time I grabbed it, he went down, and we couldn't get him back up. Maybe I can get a picture soon. So now all he has to do is learn how to move. I can't wait.

In one of the fun facts, I wrote about how mad Nathan got when you took a roll away from him. Well I added a video to show everyone. Kevin, Nathan and I went to Mr. C for Valentine's day and we gave Nathan a roll. Well when Kevin took it away from him, he got pissed. It is SO funny, you have to check it out.

Nathan & Oatmeal w/banana & applesauce

I decided it was time for Nathan to try another new food. So I decided on the Oatmeal with banana and applesauce. Well he loved it. It ate pretty well, and didn't get sick. I am glad he is trying more items that have different mixtures, that way he will have a bigger variety of foods. I just wish he would eat his veggies!!!! Oh well maybe a little later on.

Nathan & Banana, Plum, Grape

Trying to change things up, I decided to let Nathan try a new Gerber fruit. I was a little nervous because it is the first mixed fruit we have given him. Well he absolutely LOVED it. It is banana, plum and grape mixed. He really enjoyed it, and was excited to have a new flavor. And what I love about it, is it has 100 calories per container. Can't beat that.

Nathan & a Nilla Wafer

Okay, am I weird or what??? I type up all his first even if its something small as a cracker or a nilla wafer. I can't help it. I love to see the first time he tries things. Anywho, I went to the store yesterday, because a friend said to get biter biscuits for Nathan. I guess they are good for little ones, and they are easy to chew and swallow. Well I checked them out, and they are for babies 10 months and older, so Nathan is still a little young for them.

Sunday my dad was telling me to try Nilla wafers. So I decided to pick up a box. After we got home from our running around, and he ate his applesauce, I grabbed a wafer for him to try. Well he loved it. In the beginning he just ran his teeth against it. Once it got a little wet he tried biting it. He would get a little in his mouth and chew it, and then swallowed it. He did not gag or anything. He had about half of the wafer.

Nathan & crackers

So today we had some family over for the super bowl. We all had a great time, and Nathan loved having family over. Well I was watching Bryan play the Wii, and Nathan was on my lap just clapping away. I was eating a cracker, and he seemed VERY interested in it. So i grabbed a cracker and let him have it. But just to hold it and play with it. Now I knew it would end up in his mouth, but I was there to monitor it. Well of course it went into the mouth. And he did break a small piece off. I went to get it from him, but decided to see how he would react. Well he sat there, and chewed it up, and then got really excited. He wanted more. So I broke off another really small piece, and he ate it. I let him have about half of it.

I then ran to the store to get some of those Gerber dissolvable puffers. I mean hey if he liked the cracker, the puffers would work great. I mean they dissolve in his mouth. Well I broke a piece off and gave it to him. He did not like the way it felt in his mouth. He even gagged a bit. So we will try again when he gets older.

It's nice to see he is learning how to chew.

8 Months Old

HAPPY 8 MONTH BIRTHDAY LITTLE MAN!! Wink

I'm sure I say this every month, but again, where did the time go??? Time is just zooming by, which I guess right now is good, cause it is SO cold outside, and we are ready for the warmer weather.

Nathan is still dealing with his weight issues. Since his 7 month b-day he has gained 1 pound 5 ozs. His weight has gone up and down all month. His new highest being 13 pounds. They have adjusted his night time feeding from 40ml/hr to 45ml/hr. He has tolerated that pretty well. He has thrown up a few times, but I believe its because he had a little cold, and he is teething. That's right, he has another tooth coming through. This time on top. The top tooth has been harder on him than the bottom ones were. I actually think 2 on top are coming in. But it's kind of hard to tell since he won't let me get a good look.

The past month Nathan has tried a couple different things. He had peaches, and Gerber chicken for the first time. He likes the peaches, but is unsure if he likes the chicken. After a few bites of the chicken he gagged a little bit, but did not throw it up. The dietitian wants him to start on the meats, so we have to try again, but haven't yet.

Nathan has learned how to wave and clap this past month. It is SO adorable. He will wave hi and bye, and he loves to clap. Even if you just say "clap clap clap" he will clap for you. It is sweet. He is trying to learn how to snap his fingers too. Kevin was sitting on the couch the other day and started snapping his fingers at Nathan. He watched him for a minute or so, and then took his hands and figured out the motion. Of course no noise comes out of it, but he actually learned the motion. It is way too adorable. He is such a smart boy. He is still not sitting on his own. He is just too skinny to keep himself up, but we do have a bumbo that we borrowed from my friend Emily, and he loves it. He sits well in it, and he can bend over to pick up something from the ground, and then get himself back up to a sitting position. I think that will help strengthen his back. He is also bouncing more in his jumperoo. At first he would just swing in it, and keep his feet up, but now he uses those chicken legs (lol) and moves all around. He is still not really trying to crawl. Every so often he will attempt it, but I think he is SO uncomfortable with the tube, that he doesn't want to try.

Well that's about it for now. This month he will be having another surgery to change the tube he has to the peg tube. Which will be nice cause the new tube will be removable, and I think more comfortable for him, Bye for now!!!!! Smile
