I'm being induced

Kevin and I had yet another appt today. We got to the office at 9:30am, and they started my NST test. After it was complete the nurse took the paperwork to the doctor to look over. When she came back, she advised us it looks good, but the doctor wants me to have another NST done at the hospital and to have a profile work up done, just to make sure all is well. I guess the rate was good, but they didn't see enough spikes on the graph. We advised the nurse we still have an appt with the doctor, can we see her first then go get the testing done. She said that was fine. About 10 min later, the doctor came into the NST room and said that she has scheduled our induction for tomorrow at 6pm.

So tomorrow Kevin and I have to be at the hospital at 6pm, where they will instert the strip to soften my cervix. (Cilvidal I believe) then Satruday morning they will start the Pitocen. So peanut will be born sometime this weekend. He/She will either be a May 31st baby or a June 1st baby. I guess only time will tell.

We are SUPER excited, yet I am nervous. That fear of the unknown scares me.

After talking with the doctor, we headed to the hospital to have another NST test done, which came back great. So because it was good, they did not need to perform the profile workup. They did however do a ultrasound to check the fluids around the baby. The number has to be between 5 and 20. Ours came back 12. So all is well.

I will post an update once we get home. I cannot wait.

NST

Well I had another NST today. We had to have it at the hospital because of it being a holiday. What a crazy day this was. Kevin and I got there and went to check in, and the lady at the desk said she didnt see me scheduled. I explained to her that my doc office made the appt on Thursday while I was on the phone with them. She looked in the computer and said my appt was for the 24th. (Now I am getting frustrated) I explained to her that the 24th was my due date. As she read a lil further she said the computer showed I was admitted and had a bed. I just looked at her and said "Well obviously I was not admitted, cause here I am standing here, and baby is still inside me" She called up to the NST room, and explained the situation. And they advised her, to go ahead and send me up anyway. (Thank God, cause I told Kevin I was NOT leaving until they did the test) Finally after 45 min, they sent me upstairs to have the test. All went well. The bed was REALLY comfy, and it seemed to go by fast. The doc came in and looked at peanuts Heart Rate, and said all is well, and I could go. So thats done. Now we wait until peanut decides to be born, or they induce. I will keep everyone posted.

Another day...Another Appointment

Kevin and I had another appt today. All is well. We first had our NST, and they said it was just fine. That test is getting harder to do, since the recliner is SO comfy. I almost fell asleep in the chair. Kevin had to keep me awake~lol. Our next NST is Monday, and we have to have it at the hospital since its Memorial day, and the office is closed.

Then we got into an exam room, and I was weighed. Guess What???? I lost a pound. (Don't ask how....I have not a clue, I eat ALL the time~lol) Kevin and I waited about 10 min before Dr. Johnson came in. She asked how we were doing, and I told her "I am Miserable" She said its understandable. I did tell her that since yesterday Peanut hasn't really been moving too much. She told me to start counting baby kicks if I feel that peanut is not doing much. ((Lay in bed on your left side, and count baby kicks...needs to be 10 movements in 2 hours)) She then examined me. What do ya know....NO PROGRESS!!!!! (Stubborn Baby) She said that anything can happen, but if there is still no baby by the next appt (Thursday) Then we will talk about induction. She does not want me to carry after 41 weeks. I would LOVE if Peanut would come this weekend, but I just don't think its going to happen. But its good to know that for sure Peanut will join this world by next weekend. I can't wait. We are SO anxious to meet him or her. Kevin is off for a week right now, so we are planning many walks everyday. Hope it helps!!!

Another Appointment

We had another appt today. Our NST went well. Peanut got "Tazed" again. It feels so wierd, but it really wakes baby up. Then we got to see the doctor. She said there is No Progress yet. Figures!!!! I am really starting to believe peanut doesnt want to come out.~lol She said I need to have some contractions to get things going. Hopefully things will progress. I cannot wait to meet our LO.

Doctor Appointment

Well I had another weekly doc appt. We got to the office early, but was seen right away. She checked my weight. (Yup still the same) and then checked me BP. She said it was 144/78. A lil high, but its always been normal in the past. Then I went to get the lovely urine sample. After I got back to the room, the doc came in and checked the sample. He didnt say but I think I had sugar in my urine. (normally the stick stays yellow, but it was green). Then right before he was about to check the heartbeat, he got a page that he had to go to the hospital for a delivery. Luckly he finished me up before he left. So he checked the heartbeat and it was good at 159bpm. Then he advised us that he wants to check me for pre-eclampsea. So I had to get some blood work done, and do a 24hr urine test. He also decided to take me off work. Next week I also have to start the non stress test twice a week. He did check me and said I have still made no progress. He also stated that if need be they could induce my labor, since peanut is now full term. I did not get to ask him a lot of questions, or to find out more about pre-eclampsea since he had to rush off. But I am sure everything will be fine. He did not seem concerned, so I wont be either. They know what they are doing and I trust them 100%. So peanut can come at anytime. So now the countdown is really on.

Hiccups

I was at Kevin's Softball game, and while he was practicing, I noticed Peanut had the hiccups. Now I always thought it was him or her kicking. But when I really paid attention to it, it was in a rhythm pattern. I thought it was the funniest thing ever. It lastest a good 10 minutes.

Doctor Appointment Update

Another appt another day. Overall my appt went well. My weight stayed the same. (Still at a 4 pound weight gain so far) And my BP was real good at 117/78. We also heard peanuts HB, but it freaked me out a bit. It started strong, then all of a sudden it dropped fast. I mean I am laying there listening to this strong beating then it drops. I started freaking out. The doc said it went from 160bpm to 150bpm. He could see the concern on my face, but assured me is completly normal. That everything is fine, and its common. Not to worry. I also had my first internal exam. The doc said the baby's head is down and in position but I have not made any progress dialation or effacement wise. I was so hoping for at least 1cm. But he did say that peanut can come out whenever he or she is ready. I also had the strep culture test taken. So now are appts are every week. But part of me is not looking forward to them cause man that exam hurt. I was so uncomfortable. I was so glad when it was over, but I was hurting for the rest of the day. I had bad cramping, and could not get comfortable. Even laying down hurt. But at least I did not have any spotting. So thats good. I just hope at our next appt, there is some progression. I will keep my fingers crossed.

Doctors Appointment & 3rd Childbirth Class

Well I had another appt. today. All is well. Kevin and I got there checked in, and off we went to the room. The nurse weighed me, and said I lost a pound. WHAT??? I dont know whats going on with that. I make sure I eat, so I the baby and I are never hungry and I am still losing. I mean don't get me wrong I'm not complaining, but I want to make sure I am not harming peanut. So as of today my weight gain since getting pregnant is 3 pounds. The nurse asked me if I was working out more, and I told her no. (But I was really thinking "Honey, I havent worked out since I found out I was pregnant~lol") She then took my BP and said it was good. Dr. Al-Jerdi then came in and read my stats and said all looks good. He measured my belly, and then grabbed the doppler to hear peanuts heartbeat. It was SO cool. I just love that sound. It was a lil harder to hear cause peanut kept kicking, but the Dr. said its strong and at 150bpm. He said we are right on for our due date of May 24th. He also told us he doesnt think we will have the baby earlier, it may even be later than the 24th. Your first pregnancy usually goes past the due date. I did question the weight gain again, and he said not to worry, baby is healthy and growing fine. He says if I keep it up, the baby will be about 7 to 8 pounds when born. My next appt is April 30th, and thats when they start the internal check up to see if I am progressing. After that I will be going in every week until birth.

Our class was pretty interesting today. We went over c-sections. They talked about when a c-section is needed, and how its preformed, and what to expect after. It was pretty scary actually. She did advise that for your first pregnancy they normally want you to try to deliver vaginally and if you can't they will do a c-section. Which I thought was kinda good, that way you can avoid surgery. There is a lot that happens during a c-section, and that its a long process. I was glad to get the info just in case, but I really dont think this will happen to me. (Thank god!!) Besides practicing our breathing techniques, we learned different positions for delivery. Some were very interesting and uncomfortable. Well next week is our last class, and I am really excited about it. They are going to talk about what happens and what to expect when its time to leave the hospital and head home. They will also show us how to bath a newborn. She said they will "borrow" someones baby, who just gave birth that day or day before and show us how its done. I am looking forward to seeing a lil newborn. Well thats it for me today.

Felt Peanuts Heel

So I am sitting at work, and all of a sudden I could feel this hard bump on my belly. At first I thought it was from the band of my jeans, but when I decided to pull my jeans down some and feel, I could feel this hard lump. As I moved my fingers across it, I could tell it was peanuts heel. It was the coolest yet grosses thing ever, and it was painful. I mean I could literally pinch peanuts heel. He/she must have been sprawled out in there. So in order to get comfy and have him/her move it, I had to lightly push the heel, and peanut would stop. It didn't last long though, cause a minute later, the heel would be right back in the same spot. My poor lil one is running out of room in there.

I've Decided

Okay I have decided I am NOT giving birth!!!!!! I have officially changed my mind.

We had our 2nd childbirth class yesterday, and it literally scared the crap out of me. She was explaining the different stages of labor, and how long they last, and what goes on from the beginning of labor until the delivering of the baby. Then we got to see a wonderful video (NOT!!!) of labor and birth. I am truly freaked right now. I also had NO CLUE how huge the placenta is. OH MY GOD!!!!! I thought it was like the size of a tennis ball, but OH no its flippin HUGE. Its like the size of a HUGE beach ball. My goodness. Then I find out about the up coming weeks after. Okay I knew you bled after giving birth, that's a given. But she told us you bleed for WEEKS after. And I mean she said you bleed. She talked about how much, and how they will send me home with these "undies" and "pads that are like diapers". WHAT!!!!!!! So not only do I have to take care of a newborn when I come home, I have to flow like a faucet, while doing it.

She also went over the different types of pain management. 1) medicine directly in the IV and 2) a epidural. Now I understand the IV medication, and I thought I knew about the epidural. Boy was I wrong. So she explained the epidural thing, and I am SO glad I am not getting it done. She stated how the needle goes in, and that they push this metal wire thing through the needle to the spin, then take the needle out. So you have this metal wire thing (looks like chicken wire) sticking out of your back, and then they put it to a machine, which sends the medicine to your spine. ((I thought the needle they insert to your spine was how the medicine was injected)) She also said that if you have a epi then they have to catheterize you, so you can empty your bladder. WHAT?!?!?!?! So you have a chicken wire coming from your back, a tube inserted up you, not to mention you know have to pass a watermelon. That is Crazy Insane!!!!!! If I was for getting a Epi prior to yesterday, I definitely am not now.

Well Kevin was SO great through the whole thing though. He could tell I was totally freaked out. He kept trying to calm me down, saying I can handle it, I will be great, think of the end prize. It was SO sweet!!! But really, can I handle it?? I know its all worth it, and the end result is holding my baby in my arms, but I am still freaked.

There are some things that she talked about yesterday, that I have to get with my doctor about because I am opting against some things. So hopefully there are no issues.
Last half hour of the class, we practiced our breathing exercises, and she introduced the birthing ball. We all took turns sitting on it, and I loved it. I am going to make sure I ask for it when I get checked in.

Well that's it for me today. Sorry for the long freak out, but I needed to get it out.
My Thought: How am I going to handle this? Especially since I am going to be doing this ALL natural

Appointment & 1st Childbirth Class

Well we had another appointment. Everything is right on track. I am measuring right on schedule. My BP was 118/80, and I gained 2 pounds. (I think 1 pound is from the dinner I ate 30 min. before~lol) We seen Dr. Al-Jerdi today, and he advised us that he will be on call Memorial Weekend when peanut is due. Now normally peanut sleeps through all our appts. Well yesterday was NOT the case. He/She was active ALL day, and it didn't stop at the appt. Dr. Al-Jerdi put the doppler on my belly to hear the heartbeat, which was strong. But as he was getting the bpm peanut decided to kick the doppler HARD, and the Dr. ALMOST dropped it. I was shocked!!! I mean peanut really kicked that thing. Dr. Al-Jerdi said WOW he must be having a party in there. I said I think so. The Dr. then moved the doppler to another part of my belly, and we could hear peanut kicking, and swimming in there. It was SO funny. I had to try to stay still so the Dr. could get the bpm. Finally he said, Sounds good, its at 156bpm. I asked him if that's normal since 2 weeks ago it was only 140bpm. He stated its completely normal. When they are active, the HP goes up. I am SO excited everything is on track. I can't wait until May. I so want to me Peanut!!!!

We also had our first childbirth class after our appt. It is a 4 week class on Wednesday's from 6:30-9pm. There is about 8 couples in our class. 5 couples are having girls and 3 couples (including us) do not know what we are having. How CRAZY is that!! No one who found out is having a boy. The nurse was like, well I think all of you surprise couples are going to have a boy!!!! Another funny thing is when we were announcing what we were having, we even sat down on opposite sides of the desk. (Girls on one side, and unknowns on the other w/the exception of 1 couple) It was too funny. So anywho after we introduced ourselves, the nurse started talking about how are bodies are doing right now. Then she talked about what real and false labor is like, and when we should come to the hospital. She explained to us what will go on in Triage when we arrive. Then she showed us come wiring that is used when and if they do internal monitoring. She passed the cords around, which Kevin had really no interesting in looking at, so he just handed them off to me. Then she passed around the tool they use to break your water. After she explained dilation, effacement, and stations we took a break then toured the maternity ward. I took a tour already, but it was real nice for Kevin to see it. He seemed really impressed by the rooms. They even explained how the babies will each have a monitor on their leg, that sounds an alarm if they are too close to the exit or if someone tries to tamper with it. (I think they call it huggies~not sure) I think every hospital should have this. To me Kevin seemed a lil confused about it, and I just said its like a lil tether for babies. Then he got it. Finally to end class for the night, we practiced our breathing techniques. It was very soothing and I know it will be very helpful when in labor. I just sat there in front of Kevin and practiced my breathing while Kevin rubbed my head, shoulders and back. I was SO relaxed I could have fallen asleep right then and there. The way home was pretty quiet. We were both tired and I was trying to nap while Kevin drove home. Well out of nowhere Kevin says "Ya know, I really hope your water breaks on its own." I was like "Oh really why?" So he proceeds to tell me, "Cause I don't want them to have to break it, with that orange peeler." OMG I could not stop laughing. I just thought that was the funniest thing. I mean if you think about it, it really looks like a orange peeler. That was just what I needed to hear after a long and exhausting day.

Doctors Appointment

I had another doctors appt today. All went well, and we are right on track. I have been concerned about my weight gain. (feel like I should weigh more) When I went in to the room, I asked what my weight was when I was here for my very first appt. Then the nurse weighed me. I have only gained 2 pounds since being pregnant. I mean don't get me wrong, I am happy to only have gained 2 so far, but was worried I was hurting the baby. Dr. Johnson came in, and I advised her that I am having A LOT of pressure just below my stomach, and she advised its normal, that its just my body preparing for labor and delivery. (YIKES!!!!! Its coming quick) Then I voiced my concern about the weight gain. She said that 2 pounds is fine. I am only gaining the baby weight, and losing weight in other places. She said that the guidelines have changed and that they want all woman to gain no more that 15-20 pounds. She measured my belly, and then I got to hear the heartbeat again. It is strong at 140bpm. Dr. Johnson said I am right on track. That this is a very healthly baby and pregnancy.

I can't believe that I only have 8 weeks to go (as of March 24th) Time has flew by, and I can't wait to see my LO. Not too much longer to go.

Our baby shower

Well, we had our baby shower. And it was amazing. The family did a great job putting it together. Even though the weather was kind of yucky, it still did not ruin the day. Most of our family and friends were there, to celebrate our day. There was TONS of food. And TONS of gifts. We were amazed how much everyone bought peanut. Half way through opening the presents I got SUPER tired. It was exhausting. But I would not have changed it for the world. It definitly went by way to fast. I wish it could have lasted a little bit longer. I really didn't get to talk to everyone one on one, but thats understandable being the guest of honor. Peanut was really good through the whole thing. Slept right through everything. Lindsay recorded the shower, but I have not had a chance to check it out. All the pictures turned out great. I would have liked some with me and others posing together. Thats okay though. I will remember that day forever.

I would like to send out a special thanks to Kristal and Michele, for putting together the bestest shower ever. You did a great job. I love you both very much.

Snow Storm Canceled

I was SO happy this morning when I heard the Snow Storm for today was canceled. I was getting really nervous yesterday, when they were talking about this storm rthat we were supposed to be getting. I was getting emails from people stating they would not make it to the shower Saturday, if it stormed. I was afraid I would be the only one there. BUT, I kept positive yesterday, and it paid off. Cause the storm is not going to hit us. We may get some flurries, but thats it.

So I know our baby shower tomorrow, is going to be great!!!!!! I can't wait, I am so excited.

Had my 3 hour Glucose Test

Tuesday night Kevin and I had dinner, and I ate my required candy bar to get ready for my test Wednesday. We ate kinda late, and by 8pm I was still full. So 8:30pm came around and I decided to get ready for bed, because I was SO tired. Well I woke up later STARVING!!!!!! So I had decided to go and grab a snack, but when I looked at the clock it said it was 2AM. NNOOOOOO!!!!! I passed the midnight mark. I could not eat or drink anything. I was SO upset. So I ended up falling back asleep, and woke up about 6:30am to get ready to leave. I did pack some fruit for after the test, then headed out to leave. It took me forever to clean my car off, the snow was horrible, and the roads were still really bad, so it took me awhile to get to my moms, to pick her up. After battling the bad roads and drivers, I made it to the doctors right on time (8:15am) for my 3hr glucose test. After I got there, she took me in the back drew blood, and then gave me my drink. I got the orange this time. When I started drinking it, I was thinking, "Hey this is not half bad, I can deal with this" Well after I was more than half way done with the glass she fills the glass back up. I was shocked. She said because it was for 3 hrs you have to drink double. I had the hardest time drinking the rest of it. My tummy was SO hungry, and it was just horrible getting it down. The nurse was great, she just kept talking to me, to keep my mind off drinking that nasty, thick, sugary drink. But I finally did get it all down. (And hey I DID NOT burp~YAY!!!!) I went back out to the waiting room, and after about 30 min, they called me in for my normal check up appt. I got to see Dr. Goyert. He is their high risk pregnancy doctor. And he was the last DR I needed to see. Now I have met all the DR's, and they are all great. He started out by saying he thinks I will pass this test, but if for some reason I don't then they will have to change my diet. I can still have a healthy prenancy and baby. After we talked he started checking everything, and everything is great. I am measuring right on schedule, my weight has stayed the same (only a 4 pound gain since becoming PG), and the baby's HB was awesome. The doctor told me that if I don't hear from them Thursday then I passed the test. Well Thursday came and NO call. BUT, I am not going to get excited until Monday. ya never know, labs could be slow. I do have a great feeling I passed.
Mom and I played cards in the waiting room to pass the time. Finally the test was over. I was SO happy, cause I was STARVING!!!! As soon as we got in the car, I opened the fruit I brought and starting chowing. We decided to go to Ponderosa after the appt. and once we got there, I just started shoving my face. I ate SO much, but I didn't care. I finally was full. What a great feeling~lol Well I am glad this day is over. I got through it, and its done. Now I am just hoping I do not receive any phone calls from them.

Bummer

I am SO bummed out. The doctors office called and they want me to take the 3 hr glucose test, since I failed the 1hr test. She said my sugar was too high. I can't believe it. I really don't want to go through that again. She did say that it may not mean anything, thats why they have to do the long one. I did request the orange drink this time. I told her I can't drink that nasty lemon-lime crap again. She said she thinks they have the orange, and that she will put my name on it, and if they don't have anymore she would order me some. So that was really nice of her. My appt is next Wednesday 03/05. I have to been there by 8:15am. Which means I had to take a day off work (un-paid) I also have to fast after midnight. Which is not a big deal since I will be sleeping. And for 3 days before I have to keep my normal diet, but add one of 3 items: 1) 2 pieces of bread 2) piece of cake or 3)candy bar. I can also bring a snack and water to the appt, but can only have a lil bit of it. At least I can have something small in my tummy. I also was allowed to move my appt time to the morning, so I don't have to go back later in the day. And I also get to meet the last doctor I have not seen yet, which is good, cause I want to know all of them, since I will not know who will be on call come D day. Well I will keep you posted on how it goes. A boring 3 hrs in a docs office.

Doctors Appointment

I had my glucose test done. But it was really embarassing. We got to the office and after I signed in they brought out the drink. It was lemon lime. (Yuck) So as I started drinking it, and Kevin was like "Chug it, come on you can slam that down" I kept telling him that I couldnt it was so sweet and gross. Plus it was hard cause the lobby was full and the nurse was staring at me, so she can start my time. (It puts a lot of pressure on me) So finally there was a lil bit left and I decided to down it. Well right after I swallowed it, I needed to cough. (I have a bad cold) Well instead of coughing I let out this LOUD belch. It was so gross and embarrasing. Kevin is cracking up, and everyone was just staring at me. And the nurse thought I was going to throw up on her. I laughed it off, but I was so embarrased I just wanted to run and hide.

Now more than ever I pray that I pass the test. I DO NOT want to go through that again. And if I do, they are putting me in a room when I have to drink that crap. Keep your fingers cross, I do not have to take it again.

I was SO happy that they called me to the back for my appt. I couldnt stay out there much longer. So we go into the back and they weighed me. (It was the same as last month, which means I have only gained about 2-3 lbs since becoming PG) They took my BP which was good (124/80) We met another docotor today and his name was Dr. Al-Jerdi. He was super nice. I really liked him. He measured my belly and he said I am right on track. Then we got to hear peanuts heartbeat. He found it right away. Peanuts HB was at 146bpm. I never get tired of hearing that, it sounds SO sweet.

He then advised us that our appts are now going to be every 2 weeks. I was shocked. EVERY 2 WEEKS!!!!!!! That means time is really winding down. YIKES!!!! I am SO not ready for this. So my next appt is March 5th.

Kevin's Turn

As of today Kevin had not felt peanut move. But tonight that all changed. We were watching TV and peanut started moving around. Well I had Kevin come over and put his hands on my belly to feel it, and of course Peanut stopped. So we went back to watching TV, and then peanut started up again. Kevin came back over and put his hands on my belly. Well seconds later peanut gave his/her daddy a HUGE kick. Kevin not only felt it, but seen the kicks. His eyes got SO wide and he was so excited. We sat there for a few minutes and peanut was going to town. Then Kevin blurts out "WOW he is really kicking you" I said I know, this is how it feels ALL day long.

I am so glad Kevin finally got to feel, and see it. And of course its only going to get worse and harder~lol I am just amazed!!!!! Below is a lil blog Kevin posted on his myspace page, so I thought I would also post it here.

peanut kicks Current mood: excited

Well tonight for the first time i finally got to feel peanut kick. He/she kicks hard- i feel sorry for stacey for the next few months! I do have to say it was the coolest thing ever to feel it, next to hearing the heartbeat and seeing the picture. Im so excited i cant wait.
